Fishing Report for July, early to mid

07.14.12

Camp: OUTPOST

The Fishing: After really cold June water temps, the rainbow trout fishing has been slower than normal. The grayling fishing is quite good and the chum salmon fishing is good – with noticeably good numbers of them in the river.  We only saw our first king in the river on July 13, which is quite late! The dolly fishing way lighter than normal for this time of season.

Water Levels: Very healthy due to record snow fall this winter. Very high flows the second week after a couple of days of rain.

The Weather: Has overall been colder than average with lots of gray skies and little sun. But the good thing about colder temps is there have been VERY few bugs!

Other: Bear activity very light, with a few sightings. Part of the staff heading to SAFARI camp to begin setting it up.
